Tying the Uni Knot

The Uni-Knot is not only easy to tie, but very versitle as well. The Uni-Knot's main use is tying a hook or lure to your line, but you can use it to tie just about anything fishing related. Using 14lb test Berkley Fireline Crystal, I trust this knot to my $20 SPRO swimbaits without worry.

  • Step #1: - Thread the tag end of your line through the eye of the hook/lure making sure to push through enough to complete the knot.
  • Step #2: - Place the tag end along-side the main line in the palm of your hand, then create a loop in the tag end.
  • Step #3: - Wrap the tag end through the loop and around the main line the correct number of wraps for the size line you are using. Be careful not to cross the wraps over each other.
  • Step #4: - Take the part of the tag end closed to the eye of the hook and gently pull on it tightening the wraps into a barrel shape, then slide the knot down to the hook.
  • Step #5: - To finish tightening the know, pull on the tag end, then on the main line until the knot is tight.
