Double Uni-Knot
Email This Knot to a FriendThe Double Uni-Knot is exactly what it sound like; The Uni-Knot times two. It's basic use is to tie two lines together, similar to the blood knot. There are other reasons for wanting to tie two lines together, but the main reason is when you're fishing in clear water and you want to use a fluorocarbon leader. Now days, this is unnecessary if you spool your reel with the new Berkley Fireline "Crystal" super-line. For you die-hards, here's how to tie the Double Uni-Knot.
- Step #1: - Lay the tag ends of the two lines to be joined next to each other facing in opposite directions. Take one tag end and form a loop with it.
- Step #2: - Wrap the tag end through the loop and around the other line the correct number of wraps for the size line you are using. Be careful not to cross the wraps over each other.
- Step #3: - Gently pull on the tag end to snug-up the wraps forming a barrel with the wraps.
- Step #4: - Turn the entire line around and repeat steps 1,2 and 3 with the other end. Now you will have two barrels opposing each other.
- Step #5: - Pull both main lines causing the two barrels to move towards each other until the knot is tight and the two lines are joined. Trim both tag ends to about 1/8" from the barrel.
